samantha say 'yes, honey' to news that movie is on.


actress kim cattrall has confirmed the film version of sex and the city is still going ahead. cattrall, who played sensualist samantha jones on the racy hbo series, told star magazine that the film version will occur despite rumors to the contrary.


"i've just come home, and there was just this flood of excitement," the actress said. "i'm just so glad we haven't been missed or forgotten!"


sex and the city ran for six seasons on hbo, and along with the sopranos helped establish the cable channel as a major player in original content programming. the film version reportedly languished because of backstage bickering between cattrall and the other actresses, sarah jessica parker, kristin davis, and cynthia nixon.

64th golden globe awards nominations


come january 15 2007, tinseltown going to be sparkle with stars as hollywood will celebrate another round of awards presentation honoring tv and motion picture. this year, nominees list came no surprise but one thing that i want to highlight that the fact beyonce was nominated for best performance by an actress in motion picture - comedy or musical, it should have been jennifer hudson nominated for that category. however, jennifer hudson nominated for best performance by an actress in supporting role - comedy or musical.

why did i highlight this? because, in the movie jennifer hudson who play effie play most significant role than beyonce in the movie. well, that what i call publicity, to generate more interest in the movie with huge beyonce name on it.

other than motion picture, tv categories generate my interest, especially in best television series - drama. in this category all the hits tv series up against one another. 'grey's anatomy' nominated again this time but previous winner 'lost' was not in the list due to the series on break and returning in january. heroes, a new phenomenon series on nbc, nominated as well in this category and i'm pretty confident that heroes will garner an interest but most unlikely to win the awards as it was a rare tradition to awarded a new series in golden globe.

Very Scary House...

When you hit puberty, you definitely have the hormones gushing around you to explore something new. But this is very unlikely for a kid around this neighbourhood. Met DJ, Chowder and errrr... Jenny.

It is Halloween eve and everyone is preparing for trick or treat! For this 3 kids, their life is about to change in a night as they tried to uncover the mystery house that belong to his neighbour across the street.

To keep the twist of the movie, am just gonna shut up about whole things. Instead, I'm going to share with you all what do i feel about this movie. As an adult, I found that this movie is scary (for kids) and umm.. adventurous (for adults). Throughout the movie, you'll always entertain by the mis-adventure of DJ, Chowder and Jenny. On their spying to their plan on destroying the house. As the mystery unveil, you couldn't help notice that you actually sink in with the kids on their quest to find the truth.

But then again, you will wondering at the end of the movie, why isn't this movie release during Halloween season?

Do We Need Superman?

Finally, I managed to catch this epic last Friday (yes, after so many months it released here in Malaysia).

Superman Returns is a movie of everyone waiting for. The man of steel superhero won many hearts since in the 70s, thanks to DC Comics for creating this mega superhero for everyone. The early years, Superman was played by the late Christopher Reeves. And yes, Brandon Routh a little resemblance of him, that is why Routh was the first choice by Bryan Singer, director of the movie.

Putting X-Men III script away to direct Superman Returns, was a choice that Singer hard to make since the X-Men was his baby from the begining. Nonetheless, realised his dream to bring Superman to silver screen was something that Singer could not turned down.

The movie kicks off with the absence of Superman for five years. World became chaotic, war everywhere and yes Lois Lane, the broken hearted journalist who in denial that she in love with Superman, wrote 'Why The World Doesn't Need Superman?' and won pulitzer prizes. But her mind changed again because she was saved by Superman. When come to think to this matter, logically, Superman always saved Lois Lane from any kind of disasters. But when Superman missing for several years, who is the one that save Lois Lane (ponder, ponder)? And then we introduced to ever menacing Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), who cheat widower's estate and embark on journey and find Superman sanctuary and steal the crystal that can help him conquer the world. So, we do need Superman after all.

Although the movis launches slow at the begining, but it engaging as it was progressed. The special effects are impressive, the story has an intriguing bittersweet quality and Brandon Routh acquits himself nicely as a more emotionally vulnerable Clark Kent/Superman. Stepping into such an iconic role is not easy, considering that the late Christopher Reeve remains for most of us the seminal Superman.


Kate Bosworth is a rather lackluster Lois Lane, and the romance is less than combustible. Kevin Spacey's comically villainous Lex Luthor is appropriately sneering and sardonic.

Overall, this movie is entertaining, engaging and yes more human. It is good to see Superman back to our life again but I hope that we will not see the newspaper headline 'Where Has He Gone?' again, for real! Up, Up and away!

The (Un)Breakable Code


2006 most anticipated summer blockbuster finally arrived and boy, it received lukewarm response form moviegoers all over the world. However, it could not prevent The Da Vinci Code from recording a $224 million worldwide opening, the second-biggest debut ever at the global box office, its distributor said.

This movie adapted from Dan Brown's under the same title. As the book took the world by storm, the movie said different way. With so many controversies, tight filming security, called for banned and boycott by christians and arguement about the historical facts that Brown's put in his book, the movie turned out to be something that will sink forever.

Am not going to say more about the plot of this movie, as by now, each and everyone who visited this blog have watch the movie themselves. I'll evaluate the movie. I catched the movie over the weekend with anticipation that I could get more 'visual' (I have not read the book) and I left my high expectation at the entrance of the cinema. But it turned out to be the other way around. The 'visual' was not impressive with so many scenes are draggy as my tired feet walking around Paris town. I do blamed on the adapation from the book and not the director himself. But then again to adapt hunderds over pages into 2 hr and 33 mins movie is not an easy task. The problem here lies where Dan Brown involvement writing the scripts for the movie was 'denied'. If involvment by the writers himself in adapting it to a movie, it would make this movie more interesting.

As far as the plot it concern, the movie was such a mess and the movie does disjointed. Each scenes jump too fast and I did not feel any attachment to the scenes/movie at all. But moviegoers understanding would be the essence of the book managed captured in the entire movie. About the historical facts which argue theorically and the bloodline was too much too digest in the short of time. It gave me headache.

Overall, this movie is an entertaining if you ignored the hypes and controversies and enjoying it although you might 'lost' in certain part of the movie itself. Silas (Paul Bettany) as albino monk assassin and Sir Leigh Teabing (Ian McKellen) as grail hunter gave a memorable performances. However, Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) and Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou) sank deeply with the messy plot and there is no chemistry on silver screen. If you have read the book, you will disappointed with the movie and my friend told me.. NOW, READ THE BOOK!

First Look : World Trade Centre

World Trade Centre tells the true story of the heroic survival and rescue of two Port Authority policemen – John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno – who were trapped in the rubble of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, after they went in to help people escape.

The film also follows their families as they try to find out what happened to them, as well as the rescuers who found them in the debris field and pulled them out. Their story shows how the best in people rose above the tragic events of that day.

This movie is helm by Academy Award®-winning director Oliver Stone and written by Andrea Berloff stars Nicholas Cage. Along side with Cage in this movie is Michael Pena, Maria Bello, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jay Hernandez. This movie will be open in the US nationwide on 11 August 2006 and will be coming to Malaysia in 19 October 2006.

By the look of the trailer, this is going to be an emotional ride for those who lost their loved one in the most merciless terrorist attack in American history. Enjoy the trailer.

X-Men III: The Last Stand


X-Men III : The Last Stand is one of the most anticipated summer blockbuster for 2006. With the trailer have been invaded cinemas worldwide, by now, X-Men's fan are gearing up to see their favourite mutant on silver screen.

What is this movie all about? Does it picking up where it left in X-Men II? The return of Jean Gray is definitely. X-Men III: The Last Stand is the final chapter in the X-Men motion picture trilogy, a "cure" for mutancy threatens to alter the course of history. For the first time, mutants have a choice: retain their uniqueness, though it isolates and alienates them, or give up their powers and become human. The opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier, who preaches tolerance, and Magneto, who believes in the survival of the fittest, are put to the ultimate test - triggering the war to end all wars. Sound exciting isn't it?

Judging from the trailer, we can see more of the mutant in this movie that you could ever think of. The CGI are very impressive. New cast join the third installment. This is going to be super duper mega action movie.

Well, today, I managed to glimpse 7-minutes preview of X-Men III: The Last Stand. And it does look good. However, usual of me always being sceptical about good stuff, I think this movie will not liven to its expectations and I hope I'm wrong and the mean time I'm just waiting for the movie to be release.

The Sinkable Ship

As summer blockbuster with mission cashing in mulla from the cinemas worldwide, one ship fated to sink this year. The sinkable ship does not have any mercy and it does not pick its victim. It kills whatever in it. However, a group of cruiser does not want the ship to take their life away, thus they find their way out of the ship and that is climbing and swimming their way from the top to the bottom. They must stick together if they want to survive from this merciless sinkable ship. Welcome to the world of 'Poseidon'.
This movie is a remake of classic 1972's 'The Poseidon Adventure' starring Gene Hackman. The remake helm by Wolfgang Petersen (The Perfect Storm) on Director's chair and writing credits goes to Mark Protosevich (screenplay) and Paul Gallico (novel).
The first 20 minutes or so, the viewers given a brief introduction about the ship via a grand opening scene and then a brief introduction as well to our survivor. Then, during the coundown to the New Year, on the count of 10, 9, 8 ,7 ,6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (what a good way to countdown your own disaster), wham bam yes mam, the ship hit by massive rogue wave (unknown phenomena) and turn it upside down. And so the adrenaline of the movie kicks off.
Petersen gave us heart stomping non stop actions, mega explosive scenes, dive and swim around the ship accompanied with oh, ah, eee, ew and screaming-NO scenes. Petersen also gave us heroes, calm hero, survivor that meant to be die as they not contributing anything to the movie (sound like reality tv show eh), irritating girl who claustrophobic, mother and her kid who have a guts to join the surviving-cruise-adventure and unmemorable scenes and characters. In fact, as am writing this, i barely recalled any of the scenes at all.
I have yet to watch the original 'Poseidon' however, overall, I found that this movie is a feel-good movie that you wanna watch beside contributing to the Hollywood slumped movie industry. There is no story-line, just escaping. Not many conversation, just action, screaming, yelling and yes escaping. No 'you jump, i jump' and 'I am the king of the world, wooohoo' scene, just 'Conor, are you alright', 'daddy..', 'mommy..' and yes escaping. Yes, escaping is what have been planted in the survivor's mind and the ship is meant to be sinked. And yes, the movie will sink away and left forgotten but maybe not for Stacy Ferguson a.k.a Fergie Ferguson of Black Eyes Pea as she pouting her lips while singing on the Poseidon's ship that makes us mesmerised for a while!

Mission Accomplished?

I can't believe that this movie is finally here! I blogged about the production of this movie in April and a month later the movie open worldwide. Altho, according to today's news, underwhelming response to MI3 in US due to short weekend and speculation of Cruise charm on screen is over after he became open about his personal life.
Well, I went to see this movie over the weekend and decided to watch it on Imax. Huge screen, mega sound blaster.. hmmm.. you figure it out! Its just a mere an experience for me as i want to tried something new. Oh, mind you, altho they showing on Imax but this is 2D movie on 35 mm film but on HUGE screen.
Ok, on with the show...
Agent Ethan Hunt that we know in first 2 movies are tough, sexy, sleek, fast and cool super agent. Forget James Bond for a while.. just embrace Ethan Hunt! :P However, in this 3rd installment, we saw a different side of Hunt. He is more mellow, in love with a woman and more like human being to me. Its like Cruise being himself on screen except not with Kat but with Michelle Monagahan (she looks a lot like Katie Holmes). Anyway, typical JJ Abrams art, the movie started where its going to be end. So, if any of you familiar with JJ Abrams work, to which am sure that you all watch Alias and Lost. Espionage and mission is what this movie all about. If you look at it, there is not story line in this movie, it is just a movie about a mission.. with me so far? Not quite!
You see, the main mission of IMF is to retrieve Rabbit's Foot form China. As simple as that. But there are 2 mini mission that need to be done, uno, rescue Hunt's protege, Lindsey and dos, to capture Owen Davian! With me so far? Ok, the plot is similar with Alias! I'm thinking that if Alias was made into a movie, this should be the way. Daring, bold and energetic. Me likey! But again, as i mentioned to a friend today that I might biased as i like JJ Abrams way of directing. Alias is addicitive!
However, typical of Abrams again to left the ending open. "What is Rabbit's Foot?" Hunt said. Brassel's replied that he will tell Hunt what is Rabbit's Foot if he agrees to return as an agent! Cliffhanger? Yes! Same way how JJ Abrams did for Alias, thru 5 seasons, and Alias' espionage is still chasing over Rimbaldi artifacts. Same plot.. you tell me? Will we see Mission Impossible 4 still chasing over Rabbit's Foot? Does this mission accomplished?
Nonetheless, this movie is entertaining. Action packed that make you glued to your seat. Hot Maggie Q to look at. Cute Jonathan Rhys-Meyers to see. Nail bitting torture scenes. All in one world. Espionage rule in MI3!

Gubra


Gubra (anxiety) is a film that by its own and setting its own standard among it predecessor, "Rabun" and "Sepet". If you think that Yasmin Ahmad latest offering is as light as Sepet, please leave those thought behind the door. Unlike Sepet, Gubra tells 2 different stories. First story in this movie tell us the story of Orked's family seven years after Jason and the second, tell us about muezzin and his tiny village community. Two different stories and yet it has universal theme; love, hurt and forgiveness.
In Orked's tale, she has gotten over Jason and married to older man, Arif, who love her to deep down of his heart. Orked's family affair rocked down when Pak Atan was ill and has to be hospitalized. At the hospital, Orked met with Alan, Jason's elder brother. Orked and Alan immediately formed unlikely friendship as Alan became Orked path to Jason's past. They shared all the old time memories. One question raised when Alan mentioning that Jason's phone was ringing when he was lying motionless on the road. In Sepet, we remembered that someone answered the phone. But who? Anyway, you can see in Orked's eyes that she still has not gotten Jason, at least no to her heart. Things took more serious for Orked as her loving husband seeing someone else. In muezzin story took different angle. Pak Bilal lead his community which consist of two prostitutes, Kiah, who constantly abused by her regular client, and Temah, whose son in entering Primary One and she suffering from incurable illness. For the rest on how the story goes, grab your seat at the cinema.
Yasmin Ahmad gathered the bulk of Sepet cast with addition to Adlin Aman Ramlie and Alan Yun. We get to know each character even more in this movie as it explore each character relationship with each other.
While the movie started lightly off, half way it deteriorates into a web of human emotion that one can't imaginable. This movie will make you laugh and the same time will make you cry when you realized that afterall we all are different from each other.
p/s: Do not leave the theatre until the credit have rolled. Catch the surprise ending!

The Red Kebaya


I was browsing and as usual looking for material to blog in pink@movies. I decided to look for any local movies that going to be released this year. To my surprised, I found 'The Red Kebaya'. I never heard any news about this movie before. So i dig out.
What is 'The Red Kebaya' all about?
Latiff, a famous but lonely photographer who was orphaned as a small child, sets out on an expedition to photograph abandoned houses around Malaysia. On his journey he is haunted by images and sounds that remind him of his traumatic childhood.
At one particular house on the island of Penang he is transported back through time to witness the shocking events that took place in the house over 50 years ago.Through his experience, Latiff understands the tragic circumstances that led to him being orphaned and also finds an old friend.
Production Note
Brain child of the producers Andre Berly and Ramli Hassan, The Red Kebaya ideas started in the plane from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur in 2005. The primary synopsis about lonely man who is searching for his past and love story also need to be included in plot is born. They took the idea to British writer/director Oliver Knott, recently moved to Malaysia from London. Knott agrees to write and direct the movie. Knott identified the movie's theme: love, loss and betrayal; a lifelong search for long lost friendship, an extraordinary journey told in unusual way and one's man decision to go with what his heart told him and not his head.
The biggest problem in making this movie is to find 'John Reynolds', the lead Englishman. The casting went from Malaysia to Singapore but 'John Reynolds' is nowhere to be found here in SE Asia. However, Knott has one person in mind and that is Bob Mercer, an English actor who based in London.
The movie shot in various location in Penang, Genting Tea Estate and Kuala Lumpur under the helm of Raja Mukhris as Director of Photography and of cos Oliver Knott as Director. This movie is in Malay and English.

The Simpsons Movie

Finally, The Simpsons, longest animated prime time tv series about dysfunctional family come to silver screen. Details on this movie has yet to be reveal by Fox. However, on Friday (In US la), prior of screening animated film Ice Age 2:The Meltdown in theatre, a teaser trailer of 'The Simpsons Movie' debuted. The trailer also announce the relased date of the movie which is on July 27th, 2007. I can't wait as I'm a big fan of the series!

Mission Impossible III


Tom Cruise's movie franschise Mission Impossible has come to third installment. Yes peepz, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is back on silver screen this summer (that is May in Malaysia). Release date yet to be confirmed although the trailer has been played in our local cinema capturing all eyes of action movie-goers making this movie is must-watch on thier list after Superman, Spiderman 3 and X-Men 3.
Helm by JJ Abrams (of Alias and Lost TV Series) on director seat and written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and JJ Abrams, this third installment promises a mega explosive stunt and action which will glued you to your seat judging by Abrams unique blend of action and drama. Tom Cruise reprised his role as Ethan Hunt along side with Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, Laurence Fishburne, Billy Crudup, Michelle Monaghan, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers Keri Russel and Maggie Q. This movie was shot in Shanghai, Europe and also United States and currently on post-production.
Something which make this movie different and refresh would be the theme from the movie. Grammy-Award winner, Kanye West will interpret the theme 'Mission Impossible III' bringing his inventive, masterful and dynamic style to the iconic songs. Perhaps we can hear Shirley Bassey addictive voice as a sample of the iconic songs, who knows! We just have to wait and see what West have to offer to us rather than conventional 'Mission Impossible' theme.

The Da Vinci Code

One of the most controversial fiction of all time has make it way to the silver screen. Helm by Ron Howard (The Beautiful Mind) as a Director, The Da Vinci Code starrer Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Jean Reno and Sir Ian McKellen promised a mighty deliver as true to the book. As the book itself page turning story, movie pundits expect it to be happenning as the book, but then again, this Hollywood adapting it. Shot most in location like Italy and around Europe, we will travel with Robert Langdon to crack the Da Vinci code and unveil the biggest lie in human history.
If you have yet to read the book, i suggest don't! Please don spoil yourself. :P

The Devil Wears Prada



I'm a big fan of chic-lit. Don't asked me why, but somehow or rather I enjoyed read them. This year, one of my favourite chic-lit book will be brought to silver screen. Helm by David Frankel, this movie stars Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep and based on a book by Lauren Weisberger under the same title. The story is about a young woman from a small town trying to survive her most demanding new boss, fashion editor Miranda Priestly. Schedule to be release in 30th June 2006.

Remember, Remember 5th of November...


This is one of the movie that I did not expected to enjoy. Despite low key promo material about this movie, I decided to check it out last night with Adrian and Ivan.
Looking back, the first time I heard about this movie when it premier and created a buzz in one of the most established film festival in Europe. Altho before that I've seen the explosive trailer about the movie, but I said to myself this just a marketing gimmicks. Good trailer, bad movie.
Anyway, as the lights off and all eyes on the big screen, we brought back to history on 5th November 1605 where Guy Fawkes try to blew the British Parliments. And then fast forward, we were in London in the year 2020, where government rule with barter trade. Protect citizen from bioweapons and mass of desctructions machine or else you will harm (literally). We introduced to Evey one night and she was walking at the London street as the curfew started. Stopped by the police but the police trying to take advantage the situation. And so our hero, V rescued her.
As the plot goes on, we drawn to what i called movie-provoke-my-brain. Issues that raised in the movie such as dictatorship, gay-bashing, Islam-hating issues does provoke your mind. I do understand why a government in any country around the world would be taking a precaution if this movie released in their country as this can create spark goverment-hate issues. I won't spoil the rest of the plot as you have to watch it for yourself.
Through entire movie, Natalie Portman (Evey Hammond) alongside big cast such Hugo Weaving and John Hurt, gave A+ performance. Written by Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix Trilogy), and directed by James McTeigue (who also first assistant director in Matrix rilogy), V for Vendetta flies on a rhythm all its own. There's nothing Neo about V, the masked avenger who uses bombs, daggers and his telegenic charisma to take down a regime that has left him a burned remnant of its ungodly experiments.
"Mad as hell and out to rile up a politically lethargic youth audience, V for Vendetta sometimes trips on its ambitions. But who gives a damn? At least this grabber of a movie actually has ambitions, which makes it unique in a brain-dead multiplex. Better yet, V packs an urgent filmmaking energy that pins you to your seat.." Vroom Vroom


'Cars' is probably one of the most anticipated animation for 2006 beside Ice Age 2: Melt Down. However no much hype about this movie here in Malaysia, at least not yet. When it hit our shores, I could sense a lot of marketing promotion will be taking over. Plus, who doesn't want to endorse such a big time movie with cute talking cars. Yes, you heard me, talking cars! This is first collaboration between Disney Studio with Pixar Animation. Two largest animation company.

With the recent news about this movie that it would be stage it world premier at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 26th, 2006 and will be one of the most unique and elaborate movie events of all-time. The screening of the film represents the first multi-screen digital cinema premiere ever, with Texas Instruments and its DLP Cinema® technology serving as Disney's event technology partner in providing the digital cinema projectors. A series of four giant custom-built outdoor movie screens (115-feet wide and 50-feet tall) will be constructed at Lowe's Motor Speedway at Turn #2 of the track. Each screen will have three DLP Cinema 2K digital projectors dedicated to it. A state-of-the-art sound system is also being created and installed for the event (fuyohhh.. i want to see something like this in Malaysia).
What is this 'Cars' all about?
Lightning McQueen (voiced by OWEN WILSON), a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters -- including Doc Hudson (a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, voiced by PAUL NEWMAN), Sally (a snazzy 2002 Porsche voiced by BONNIE HUNT), and Mater (a rusty but trusty tow truck voiced by LARRY THE CABLE GUY) -- who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship.The all-star vocal cast also includes free-wheeling performances by Tony Shalhoub, Michael Keaton, Cheech Marin, George Carlin, Katherine Helmond, and John Ratzenberger. Delivering more fun and authenticity to the cast for 'Cars' are vocal performances from some of the all-time greatest names from the racing world including the legendary Richard Petty, plus "drive-on" roles by Mario Andretti, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Darrell Waltrip (who holds the record for five-wins at the NASCAR Coca Cola 600), and Michael Schumacher (yup, u read that right), the ace German Formula 1 racing legend, who is a seven-times world champion, and is widely considered to be the best Grand Prix racing driver of all-time.

First Look on Casino Royale



This is the first look of movie still picture at Mr Suave James Bond's 21st film Casino Royale. With so much criticise about Mr Daniel Craig being casted as the double 07 which does not met any James Bond criteria, proved 'em wrong. Judging by this the pic, this man has charisma that would bring out Mr Bond in certain sexiness and also he look better than Pierce Brosnan. More suave i must say.. my opinion.

This time around, according to some news on the net, it will be more darker than the first two with the villian is Sandman and Venom. The latter is the most sought after villian for Spiderman. With the release of the teaser poster of Spiderman 3 of which the superhero was shoot in black suit confirming the news.

And the Oscar goes to...


The 78th Annual Academy Awards was held last Sunday at Kodak Theatre. It was night to remember and celebrate. There is no major sweep winner this year, however, the members of the academy felt that Best Motion Picture should be awarded to Crash instead of Brokeback Mountain. Ang Lee was awarded Achievement in Directing category. Well, traditionally, very rare Academy awarded Best Motion Picture and Achievement in Directing to the same film.
Best Actor in Leading role category however saw a race among the most talented new breed of actor but then it was awarded to Philip Seymour Hoffman form Capote and Best Actress in Leading Role goes to Reese Whiterspoon from Walk The Line to which I think Felicity Huffman deserved this award. George Clooney won for Preformance by an Actor in Supporting Role for Syriana and Rachel Weisz won Performance by an Actress in Supporting Role in The Constant Gardener.
As the Best Song goes to Three 6 Mafia 'It's Hard out There For A Pimp' from Hustle & Flow, Brokeback Mountain won best Original Score.

Fearless


Fearless is the story of Fok Yuen-gap (Huo Yuan-jia), a national hero in China and master arts master at the beginning of the 20th century, who early on experiences the dark, vengeful side of wushu. He eventually rises to embrace its more positive side by taking on some of the world's greatest fighters in a sporting competition that takes place at a time when a distressed China is being encroached upon by foreign powers.

Lo Wei used this story as inspiration for his movie Fist of Fury (1972) where Bruce Lee played a fictional student of Fok Yuen-gap, who seeks revenge for his master's death. Twenty-four years later, Li took on the same fictional role in Fist of Legend. Now he's playing the master.

Ronnie Yu (The Bride with White Hair) directs and Yuen Wo-ping is action director. The movie's subject matter is familiar territory for Yuen. He directed Legend of a Fighter (1982), a kung fu classic about the life of Fok Yuen-gap starring Leung Far-yan.
This latest action flick by Jet Li, perhaps his last martial arts movie. The idea behind the production of this movie after a recent studies revealed the number of suicide rate among youth in China has increasing. Jet Li wanted to inspire the youth how to live their live with the strong spirit, very much like Hou Yuan Jia did in his lifetime.

The Constant Gardener


This movie has 4 nominations for 78th Annual Academy Awards including Best Actress in Supporting Role for Rachel Weisz.

Breakfast on Pluto

Brokeback Mountain


This movie has recieved 8 nominations for 78th Annual Academy Awards including Best Actor in Leading Role, Best Actor in Supporting Role, Best Actress in Supporting Role, Directing and Best Picture. It will race against movis such as Capote, Munich, Crash and Good Night, and Good Luck.The movie is adapted from a short story by E. Annie Proulx and directed by Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hulk).
Set in 1960s, this epic love story trail the ups and down of two cowboys, which develop a strong bond that turns to love over the course of a summer in the Wyoming mountains. As they share herding duties in an isolated setting, Ennis and Jack find themselves drawn into a relationship--made impossible by the time and circumstances in which they live--that will color the rest of their lives.
